Striking design, unearthly power, surprising refinement, and amazing value are the core features that drive the CTS-V Coupe and Wagon to the top of any list, and that's what's behind their place on our short list of Best Car To Buy nominees for 2011. We were one of the first outlets to get a ride in the CTS-V Coupe this spring, and our own John Voelcker attended the press launch to drive the car at Monticello. Next week I'll be behind the wheel of the CTS-V Wagon, though you'll have to wait a few days to see what sort of impression the longest V-variant makes. The Coupe, with its unique...

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe vs. 2011 Infiniti G37S CoupeI'm a car nerd. I’ll confess, I love digging through stats for nuggets about performance. And I lean hard toward thinking a lot can be made of power-to-weight ratios. I’m always in favor of lighter cars, because low weight allows so many other efficiencies: a smaller engine, which leads...

Cadillac Revving Up To Build ATS With $190M Lansing InvestmentSmall cars and Cadillac haven't, historically, gone hand in hand. But they will in the near future, as General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] is already stepping up work on the Lansing plant where the Cadillac ATS compact sedan will be built. The work entails $190 million worth of upgrades and additions...

2011 Cadillac STS Ditches The V-8Cadillac’s ageing STS sedan is soldiering on for yet another model year, despite most of the competition in the mid- to full-size luxury sedan segments being updated or overhauled in recent years. This is because the STS, along with the front-wheel drive DTS, is to be replaced by a single...

Once one of the most feared linebackers in the NFL, Junior Seau is now tackling a different kind of enemy. Arrested on suspicion of domestic violence this morning, he was then released and promptly drove his Cadillac Escalade off a cliff. Seau was injured, but survived. Further details are sketchy--the initial report came via TMZ, and it's not clear if Seau's beach-tackling cliff dive was intentional or merely the result of what must have been a very emotionally difficult night. The investigation into the matter continues, while Seau is being treated for his injuries at Scripss La Jolla...

Cadillac Recalling 2009-10 CTS, CTS-V For Crash Safety DefectThere's no denying Cadillac's CTS and especially the CTS-V are very good cars. They manage to compete with the German luxury marques in ways no American brand has in decades. But they're not perfect. GM has just issued a recall on certain 2009-10 model year CTS and CTS-V models for failure to...

Jesse Jackson, StrippedEveryone loves to bash a hypocrite. Outspoken finger-pointers like Newt Gingrich, John Edwards, and any number of Baptist ministers have been caught with their pants down (literally), and we've raked them over the coals for not practicing what they preach. The theft of Jesse Jackson's Cadillac...

Someday, we might not have to put so much emphasis on airbags, anti-whiplash seats, and roof crush. In an ideal world, we could simply avoid accidents altogether, right? Or better yet, our cars would. It's not as far into the future as it sounds, according to GM. Looking ahead, Cadillac Global Active Safety director John Capp says that in-vehicle Doppler radar would spot obstacles or traffic jams ahead, while further into the future that information could be used in autonomous vehicles that would share information with each other, as well as traffic signals, and potentially drive themselves...

Snooki Polizzi Could Be Legally Declared 'Annoying' (Yes, It's A Real Thing)A year ago, the thought of Oompa-Loompas made us smile. Sure, they were a little creepy, what with their bite-size stature and fake bake-gone-terribly-wrong tan jobs, but whatever: they had their place in our crusty childhood hearts. Then came Jersey Shore. We don't exactly know how Nicole "Snooki"...

Pebble 2010: A Miller for the AgesIn a past life, I wrote about the Miller 91 that Car and Driver editor Karl Ludvigsen found in a dank barn in France, and brought to the U.S.--and later saw installed in the National History Museum. Today, it's another spectacular Miller that made its way to the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours...

Design studios rarely receive the kind of comprehensive museum treatment of established car brands. It's no easy thing to assemble a cohesive group of cars that eventually were sold by different car companies, each with a different purpose in mind. As one of the honored marques at this year's 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the coachwork and design house of Ghia finally got its due with a dazzling display of concepts built for makes as wide-ranging as Plymouth, Ford and Ferrari. Above, the 1955 Ghia Streamline X "Gilda" 2 Door Fastback Coupe made its futuristic statement once...

Pebble 2010: 1937 Bugatti 57S AtlanticThe Bugatti 57S Atlantic was, in many ways, ahead of its time. Even now, over 70 years later, it features elements just beginning to make their way into the average passenger car, such as aluminum body panels. This example, on display this weekend at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance...

2011 Cadillac CTS-V: First Drive ReviewIt's not often that a manufacturer has the courage to turn dozens of auto journalists loose on a racetrack with pricey copies of its new, 556-horsepower performance coupe.
