Despite vowing to end the practice of badge engineering following its bankruptcy process and streamlining of brands, GM is on the verge of launching a new compact sedan under its Buick label that will essentially be a reskinned Chevrolet Cruze. The car is the upcoming 2012 Buick Verano, a teaser of which was released last week along with the announcement that production will be taking place at GM’s Orion assembly plant in Michigan. Speaking at a recent press event, GM’s North American chief, Mark Reuss, explained that the Verano won’t be mistaken for a Chevrolet Cruze due to...

2011 Chrysler 200 Partially Revealed In New TeasersFew who've driven the Chrysler Sebring have much in the way of kind words to say about it. A coarse engine, an interior that wouldn't pass muster at Fisher-Price and dated exterior design combine to make a car that's destined for a myriad of "worst of" lists. And Chrysler realizes that, in a big...

The covers were just pulled off the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS at its world debut last week at the 2010 Paris Auto Show but already we have photos of the first crashed example. The crash took place at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany where engineers are running the car through its final phases of development. The damage seen here looks minimal and since the car is a development mule it’s likely destined to be crushed once engineers have finished with it. In an embarrassing couple of weeks for Mercedes-Benz we also just saw the new SLS AMG GT3 race car crash during its competition...

No New Continental in Lincoln's FutureFord [NYSE:F] is damping speculation that it's developing a new flagship sedan in the mold of the former Lincoln Continental. The Continental was one of the signature vehicles in the Lincoln lineup from the 1930s through the 1970s--the mini-brand was sold under its own nameplate, before it became...

274-HP 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Priced From $24,145Hyundai almost certainly isn't the first name you think of when you think performance or luxury, but the brand is working hard to change that, most notably with the introduction of the Equus sedan for the U.S. Even its lower-range models are pushing the brand-perception envelope--the new Sonata is...

Before its world premiere this week at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, the world knew the details on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class sedan. Now, the demimonde of auto journalists and Parisians know how well the CLS translates into reality, as it's on display on the auto show floor. In adopting some of the more masculine lines and angles of the E-Class, the CLS has lost some of the visual softness that made the original so appealing--particularly on the front end, with its big LED headlights trapezoidal intersections, and inside, where the matte burled walnut is no longer the dominant finish...

On the A7, the hatchback, four-door-coupe stance works much better than on the Porsche...

Driven: 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX SedanOn the surface, the 2011 Subaru WRX doesn't sound all that exciting. Sure, it's got a turbo 2.5-liter Boxer four, but only 265 horsepower? The Honda Accord makes more than that. Yeah, it has all-wheel drive, but so does the Lincoln MKS. It wears the widebody treatment of the WRX STI, but it's about...

Three weeks ago Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2012 CLS-Class ahead of its public debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, and today, we have a fresh new gallery of photos that show the car off in a much better light. Literally, the lighting is way better. Rather than the spotlight-in-a-cave shots loosed in August, we get images of the 2012 CLS cruising sunlit highways and parked in multi-million-dollar driveways. They not only show off the new curves and character lines in a more readily understood real-world setting, but also give us a better idea of the light and space in the cabin. With a more...
