We aren't big fans of the current Sentra. It's not that it's a bad car, it's just not all that sporty, even in SE-R trim. The CVT transmission has a lot to do with it, though the Spec V remedies that. But Nissan appears to have done away with plans to revive the 240SX/Silvia as a Mazda MX-5 competitor and instead is looking at a Sentra-based coupe. The loss may not be as big as it seems on face, however: the 240SX successor would likely have been front-wheel drive as well. The difference, then would be a matter of degree, and styling. Instad of the long-nosed, lean proportions of the last...

Report: Next Nissan GT-R Will Be Pure Electric, Other Sporty EVs PlannedNissan could be going all-electric with its flagship Nissan GT-R. What's Your Favorite Empty-Garage Dream Car?Few rites of passage get landmark status in a car fan's life. There's nothing in a car life like the birth of a first kid or the signing of a first mortgage--unless you have to do both just to get that "classic" Zimmer QuickSilver back on the road after Granddad left it to rot in a barn in New York...

Report: 2011 Nissan GT-R SpecM To Be Called "Egoist"Egoist: Noun. A believer in egoism; an egocentric or egotistic person. That's the definition of the new name reported to be attached to the 2012 Nissan GT-R luxury model that was expected to be called the SpecM. But how will that sit with Americans? Highly individualized, buyer-centric...

Chumpcar At Hallett: The Race In ReviewYou have to be a certain kind of crazy to participate in a 24-hour endurance road race. You have to be even crazier to do it as both driver and crew, essentially ensuring you won't sleep for 30 hours or more. But that's exactly the kind of crazy we are, and we'd do it again this weekend if we...

2012 Nissan GT-R Rumors Include RWD Mode, Improved Launch ControlRumors on the Internet abound, and many of them relate to as-yet-unreleased cars. File this one in the "we'll believe it when we see it" category, but it's interesting enough to repeat: the 2012 Nissan GT-R could get some significant new features, including rear-wheel-drive only mode. Hidden under...

These images purport to be the first look at the 2012 Nissan GT-R as it gets ready for its 2011 rollout in Japan. The additions for 2012 appear to be solely cosmetic, though with the GT-R's already impressive performance, there's not much need for more speed. Starting at the front end, the headlights get LED daytime running light add-ons, plus a restyled front bumper and aero package resulting in a slight drop in drag. At the rear, a new diffuser boosts downforce to improve high-speed grip. A pair of new colors is also on the docket according to the leak, tentatively called Aurora Flare Blue...

Alyssa Milano Is Charmed By The Nissan LeafThere's been a lot of talk about electric rides lately, most of it having to do with the Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Leaf. (They're not the only EVs on the market, obviously, just the two getting most of the publicity right now.) What's weird is this: much of the chatter about the Volt seems...

Why A Nissan Leaf Is A Better Choice Than A Chevy Volt. Maybe.Auto makers have gradually begun introducing their own interpretations of the plug-in electric vehicle, still a fairly unfamiliar concept to most consumers. Since their strategies are all a little different, it can be difficult to do across-the-board comparisons. Two big players, the Nissan Leaf...

Next-Gen Nissan Z Car To Sport Mercedes-Benz Power? The rumors are flying fast that Nissan's Z sports car could benefit from the new engine relationship.

Nissan's recent supercar hit, the GT-R has proven a sub-$100k car can compete with some of the world's best. Others will certainly make necessary changes to keep up, so Nissan will have to work to maintain the GT-R's competitiveness. Rumors suggest a healthy increase in power is part of the plan to do just that. Specifically, the output of the 3.8-Liter V6 would jump to over 500hp and 450lb/ft of torque - not too shabby. Still, the bar remains high for engine output in the supercar arena. Porsche will certainly not give up easily, so the GT-R must continue to evolve to keep up. Other...
