It’s the opening day of the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show and the reveals are coming hot and fast. One of the highlights has been the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S, which is billed as Jaguar’s fastest and most powerful sedan ever built. With an output of 550 horsepower, all of which is being channeled to the rear wheels, we’re not surprised.

Also taking place this week is the 2012 Essen Motor Show, Germany’s equivalent of SEMA. It’s where many of the top European tuners show off their latest creations, and this year TMG will be bringing a wild concept based on the Lexus LS 460.

The 2013 Pirelli Calendar has been launched, but unlike previous years the 2013 calendar goes for an artier stance and drops the scantily clad women. The photographer is Steve McCurry, whose picture of an Afghan girl was made famous after it appeared on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic.

You'll find all of this and more in today's car news headlines here at Motor Authority.
