Though we’ve been talking about an RS1 high-performance minicar from Audi for more than year now, the strongest indication yet that we might one day see such a car came from the unveiling of the Audi A1 clubsport quattro Concept at this week’s Wörthersee Tour 2011 in Austria. Packing the automaker’s potent 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, which is used in other hot models such as the TT RS and RS3 Sportback, but with output dialed all the way up to 503 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, the aggressively styled hatch would certainly be worthy of wearing the fabled...

We never really expected the 2012 Audi A6 Avant to grace our showrooms, despite hopes to the contrary. Sadly, it looks like our reasons for optimism, slim as they were, have taken a blow: Audi's Andrew Lipman says there are no plans to bring the car to the U.S. Unsurprising as it may be, it's still somewhat hurtful to those of us that see the inherent utility and beauty of the wagon form factor. Especially so to those of us that prefer it to the crossover that has usurped its place in the market. For those that prefer higher ride heights and the accompanying sense of command brought about by...

Audi Becoming Energy Producer With New e-gas TechnologyOne of the greatest arguments against electric cars is not their limited range, low top speeds or long charge times, but the fact that their electrical power is usually generated by means of heavy polluting coal burning power stations or potentially worse nuclear reactors. Audi acknowledges this...

Since the unveiling of the Audi R8 back in late 2006 the iconic supercar has undergone few major changes apart from the introduction of a V-10 model in addition to the original V-8, as well as a drop-top Spyder, which comes with either engine. That doesn’t mean the car is without its criticisms. One of the biggest is the R8’s available R tronic automated manual transmission, which features a single clutch and can be quite jerky. It turns out Audi is keen to remedy this issue and replace the R tronic with an advanced S tronic dual clutch unit. A dual clutch unit would not only be...
