Starting with a "Gotta Have It Green" 2013 Ford Mustang GT 5.0, the team at Shelby American is in the process of creating the next Shelby GT350. This gallery documents the first phase of the build: the tear down.

As you can see, it's a pretty thorough deconstruction, pulling off everything from the wheels, tires, hood, and front bumper to the brakes, intake manifold, and exhaust. In their place, components like Shelby-branded Wilwood brakes, a supercharger, beefed up radiator, intercooler, and custom bodywork are added.

The result, so far, is a nearly complete Shelby GT350 front end and engine bay. The next step is to attack the back of the car, where we expect more aerodynamic bodywork, a mean-sounding and free-breathing exhaust, and perhaps more.

We'll keep you posted as the 2013 Shelby GT350 build progresses, so stay tuned. For more of what Shelby American is up to, check out the initial build gallery of the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake.
