The days of the glossy paper new car brochure are numbered, it would appear.

If you’re looking to buy a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C Class in the U.K., there’s no need to waste your time visiting a dealer to pick up a printed brochure.

Instead, you can simply download a new iPad app that gives you a virtual and interactive overview of the new Mercedes-Benz C Class lineup. Rather than just providing pictures and text, the app allows shoppers to compare models side-by-side, while viewing the selected cars from multiple angles.

An interactive configurator allows consumers to view various interior and exterior options, and the app contains driving videos for each C Class variant. There are detailed explanations of features like Mercedes’ Intelligent Light System, its Dynamic Handling Package, and BlueEFFICIENCY features that come on every C Class model.

The app contains all the specifications you’d find in a hard copy brochure, too, and even includes pricing data. When it’s time to buy, the app will use your current location to find the nearest dealer, who will contact you with an as-configured price on your new C Class.

Prefer another shop? No problem, since the app allows you to select the dealer of your choice, as well.

The app is available on both iTunes and the Mercedes-Benz UK website. For now, it’s not available to U.S. shoppers, but we suspect that will soon change. Interactive brochures are less expensive and more feature-rich than printed ones, so it’s just a matter of time before manufacturers embrace new car brochure apps.
