We've driven the 2011 Hyundai Equus a few times, and have come away impressed with the Korean automaker's first take on traditional, full-size luxury. Since we're poverty-stricken Apple fanboys, too--only $100 more for a phone that's locked to AT&T?--we geeked out over the announcement earlier this year that the Equus would come standard with a 16GB, WiFi-enabled Apple iPad, which houses the Equus' owners' manual and connects owners to schedule service appointments via the Web. A few mixed messages later, we're bringing you the first photos of the iPad at work in the Equus, courtesy...

Fireball Run: The RouteOver the eight days from September 24-October 2, Team High Gear Media will be driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, all but living out of it as we compete our way across the country. We'll be traversing 3,500 miles of the American heartland, from Henderson, Nevada to Galena, Illinois, and we won't be...

Fireball Run: The RulesThe rules of Fireball Run are, on their face, pretty simple. Two people per team minimum, four maximum. The car that runs the rally must actually run the rally--no trailering or support vehicles. The main team registrant must be a business owner, worth over $3.5 million, a celebrity, an active or...

Fireball Run: What Is It?The Fireball Run might sound like one of the gonzo cross-country outlaw runs like the Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash (better known as the Cannon Ball Run) but it's actually a very above-board affair. Its core mission is not just to have fun or drive across the country...

High Gear Media Does The Fireball RunSeventy-five teams, 3,500 miles, 8 days, with track events, missions, and one common goal: to help find missing kids. The Fireball Run kicks off September 23 and runs through October 2, and High Gear Media is taking part. We're in it to win it, and we'll be covering the event as we go. Joel Feder...

The Fiat 500 is just over two months from retail sale here in the U.S., and now Chrysler has revealed the first image of the new car in Sport trim. We've already known the 500 would get an upgraded platform for the U.S., and that up to four different models would be sold, but this is our first glimpse of the actual U.S.-spec car. The photos come from @FiatUSA on Twitter, and unsurprisingly it looks like a Fiat 500. No real differences are immediately apparent, though Fiat says the car has an upgraded exterior, including 16-inch alloy wheels which give the little car a tougher stance to match...

2011 Hyundai Equus: Third DriveAs you've seen across the High Gear Media empire of automotive Web sites, we've spent some quality time with the 2011 Hyundai Equus. In fact, we've driven it once in what was clearly "not a first drive" and then a few months ago in South Korea. Now, we've had a shot at the final production Equus...

2011 Lincoln MKX: First DriveStretch your memories to go all the way back to the end of August, when Labor Day actually held the ironic promise of a few days off. Faked you out, didn't it? Us too. Still, we fondly recall those days of just three weeks ago with a touch of nostalgia. After all, it was the first time the wraps...

Whether it's the rather bland looks or the underwhelming stats, the 2011 Lexus CT 200h hasn't primed us for our first shot behind its wheel. Today's announcement of four driving modes for the car doesn't do much to change that, though we're interested to see just how much sport can be added to the car with the press of a button. In addition to the expected sport mode, the 2011 CT 200h also offers EV, eco, and normal drive modes to exploit its hybrid nature and maximize fuel economy to suit the situation. In EV mode, the CT 200h is good for all of one mile of all-electric driving, at speeds...

There's a distinct division as...

First Drive: 2011 Kia Sorento SXCrossovers don't really get my blood flowing. They're useful, to be sure, and some even look decent, in a tall-hatch kind of way. But really, at the end of the day, they're about functionality, not passion. Nonetheless, the sporty model in Kia's crossover range, the 2011 Kia Sorento SX, nails the...

Dodge Whips Covers Off 2011 Durango "Performance" SUVChrysler is on a roll with SUV designs, and though the Durango doesn't quite hit the sweet spot the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee does, it's not far off the mark. Sleek, smooth, and modern, the 2011 Durango's look wraps what Dodge is pitching as a "performance-tuned" setup, and does it with three rows...

Muscle Car Collector Arrested For Sales Tax EvasionIf you've got the cash to buy 150 classic muscle cars and house them in an immense garage, you ought to have the cash to pay the sales tax on them, right? We just got back from driving the 2011 Kia Optima at Road Atlanta, and unfortunately, we don't have much to report. Why? Because we only got a handful of very reduced-pace laps around the track with the car. But we did spend enough time with Kia's latest sedan to give you the 10,000-foot overview. The executive summary: it looks darn good from this height. Steering is better than the Sonata, without the floaty, divorced-from-the-road feeling or large on-center deadspot, though it's still a bit light and low on feedback, not that we really got to push the car hard. Braking is solid, what you'd...
