Who needs a reason to look at photos of collectible, unique, rare, or storied racing and sports cars? We sure don't. So we won't give you one this time around. If you've enjoyed these peeks through our lens of the many brilliant bits and pieces of the Quail gathering, hang on for a roundup of the best of the rest from Pebble Beach proper over the next few days--in addition to our ongoing live coverage from the event. Bonus points if you can name the cars from their detail shots.

Quail 2010: Odds And Ends Gallery, Part OneThere are so many cars, so many objects of lust and art packed into California's central coast this weekend that it's simply too much to cover it all in detail. But ogling can be just as fun even if you don't know the name of the ogle-ee. Even this gallery contains just a sampling of the hundreds...

The McLaren MP4-12C made its North American debut this weekend in Pebble Beach, following it up with an appearance on the concept lawn at the lodge. Though cordoned off behind taunting white plastic chains on the putting green, we still managed to snag a few shots for your viewing pleasure. In case you've forgotten, the McLaren MP4-12C is the first of a new set of McLaren sports and supercars, offering 600 twin-turbo horses from a 3.8-liter V-8 engine. A full 440 pound-feet of twist is routed through a McLaren Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox (SSG). Thanks to the forced induction, 80...

Quail 2010: Shelby Cobra CorralWhile The Quail 2010 celebrated 45 years of Carroll Shelby's Mustangs in a prime collection of GT500s, GT350s, KR convertibles and one bare-metal shell of an ur-Shelby Mustang, a smaller circle of roadsters connected the dots between the 'Stangs to Shelby himself. A curated quartet of Shelby...

Quail 2010: Three More Bugattis--And A DelahayeBugatti. The very name spells vintage luxury--or, if you're more modern-minded, outright speed and power. Though with its current German parentage, the Bugatti of today bears little resemblance to the classics of Ettore. Delahaye, on the other hand, has fallen off the map for all but the dedicated...

After you drown in high-cholesterol classics from Bugatti, Packard, Allard and Shelby all day at The Quail 2010, it's easy to overlook some of the simply amazing cars in the parking lot of the Quail Lodge. The cars left idle on the Quail greens alone would put whole concours events in less moneyed zip codes to shame. Then again, shame is freely available to anyone willing to pay. Case in point: this totally atrocious Ferrari limousine we spotted on our way out of the Quail motorsports gathering, on the golf-course greens that double as overflow parking during this heavily traveled, $400-a-pop...

Quail 2010: 1950s Racing Stunners
This year's Quail motorsports gathering underscored the "motorsports" half of the equation, with a display of rare race cars that avoided the destruction you might expect to happen to lightweight, fragile classics like these two exceptional cars. The 1955 Kurtis 500SX above has a unique...

Quail 2010: Bugatti on paradeIt's called a "motorsports gathering," but to the observers sipping crisp local wines and sampling the world of classic cars one continent at a time, The Quail is more than a gathering. For us here at MotorAuthority, it's an epiphany of rarely seen machines driving under their own power, an...

Quail 2010: VSR Concept is a Cadillac Hot RodIt's rare to see a new concept car at a megawatt event like The Quail, without an official manufacturer badge on its flanks. But the VSR Concept Sports Rod is no ordinary concept, and its chief designer is no unknown. The VSR is the work of Wayne K. Cherry, who led GM's design department through...

2011 Infiniti G25 Sedan PreviewThe idea of a more affordable Infiniti G sedan is intriguing.
