There are now just four races to go until the end of the 2012 Formula One season, but with the championship balanced on a knife edge and several contenders still in the running for title glory, there should still be plenty of excitement, hopefully all the way to the final curtain in Brazil. BMW has issued a recall on certain versions of its 7-Series flagship sedan due to what the company says is a software problem that can cause a door to open unexpectedly. The recall affects 2005 to 2007 7-Series sedans built from August 23, 2004, through September 3, 2007. In total there are some 7,485 cars affected by the latest recall in the U.S. They are all equipped with the Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic features. According to BMW, the software problem means a closed door that would normally be latched may, in fact, not be secured. Certain driving conditions may cause the door to...

Icon FJ-44 hits up Jay Leno's GarageHere at Motor Authority we tend to spend most of our time on the paved bits, in low-slung, fun-to-drive cars. Barring that, we gravitate toward full-size highway bombardment hardware: cruising in style. But sometimes we get the urge to go where the roads don't. And when we do, the Toyota FJ is at...

If you'd like to see the new McLaren MP4-12C Spider in action, look no further: Chris Harris and Drive have you covered. From the slick folding hardtop in action to full-on sideways hoonage, Harris delivers his usual goods--though in a somewhat drier, lower-key style than usual. For our money, we'll usually take the hardtop over the convertible version of a car for the weight savings, improved chassis stiffness, and general practicality. The 12C Spider might be a major exception, as we like the look of it better, and the carbon tub negates the loss of chassis stiffness--and heading into a...
