  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

At $157,995, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R is the newest ferocious car you can buy with a three-pointed star festooned to its snout. The German automaker announced pricing for the car in America on Thursday, which includes a mandatory $995 destination charge. All in, that puts it $12,000 above the GT C, but on parity with the GT C Roadster that we recently drove. For that cash, GT R buyers get a 577-horsepower version of the AMG GT's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that drops the sports car's 0-60 mph sprint to just 3.5 seconds and a 198 mph top speed. The GT R isn't just about going fast, though...

  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster
2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster first drive review: a special sports car, topless or not

I'd like to start this review by prattling on about how this 550-horsepower super sports car can slay the toughest track set before it. I'd love to wax poetic about its relentless grip, its composure at speed, its hunkered down feel in sharp bends, and the feeling of joy it imparts to the driver as...

  • Dieter Zetsche on the Mercedes-Benz stand at the 2017 Geneva auto show

While most major automakers struggle to justify a convertible—if in doubt just ask Toyota about an 86 convertible—Mercedes-Benz has no less than six in its lineup. Seven if you count models from Smart. Sales of luxury vehicles have boomed since last decade's global financial crisis, thanks to a combination of record low interest rates and the opening up of new markets. But some players in the luxury segment are starting to realize that the commensurate expansion in their respective lineups may have been a bit too speedy. “The specialty cars, these coupes and convertibles...

  • Mercedes-Benz 300TE wagon on a Unimog chassis
Kneel before your Mercedes-Benz off-road wagon God

For some, it may be considered blasphemy to do this to a Mercedes-Benz 300TE. That would be weird, though, because there isn't much special about the W124 wagon. It's a great machine, but it doesn't exactly tug at our heartstrings. The Unimog, however, does just that. So when you pair the 300TE...

Like the E63 S sedan, the wagon derives its power from a 4.0-liter V-8 with a...

  • Mercedes-AMG GT concept, 2017 Geneva auto show

  • 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has completed its fifth-generation E-Class family with the reveal of the 2018 E-Class Cabriolet. The handsome drop-top made its debut this week at the 2017 Geneva auto show and goes on sale before the year is out. It arrives as a 2018 model. The design was hardly a mystery as Mercedes has already shown us the 2018 E-Class Coupe. The E-Class Cabrio is virtually identical apart from its roof, which like on the outgoing model is an automated folding soft-top. The roof is available in dark brown, dark blue, red or black and needs just 20 seconds to operate, which it can do at speeds...

  • 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe
2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe first drive review: seeing what sticks

Its impossible not to notice that the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 has too much tire. The 225- and 245-millimeter, 19-inch Pirelli P Zero rubber sticks to the road like hot Doublemint, and the standard traction control setting has a short leash anyway. Back and forth in the C43 along coastal roads, we...
