Fans and enthusiasts of the conventional manual gearbox have likely lost another round in the battle being waged by automakers to phase out the clutch pedal in more and more cars. The latest casualty is the 2012 Cadillac CTS, which in 3.6-liter V-6 guise is said to be no longer offering a six-speed manual transmission as an option. With the 2011 CTS Sedan and Coupe, customers buying the rear-wheel drive 3.6-liter model in Performance or Premium trims could opt for a manual transmission. For 2012, the same trim levels will most likely be offered exclusively with a six-speed automatic. The V-8...

Update: We just got our hands on a hot and fresh video of the car in testing. Unmarred by any annoying music or other frippery, it's a raw and heady mix of engine and exhaust sounds on top of a visual delight. Enjoy. Race cars are often exercises in function over form, forgoing the consumer...

Cadillac is blaming the wax coating on a rear suspension component for its latest recall of certain 2009 and 2010 model year CTS models. A total of 50,000 vehicles are affected worldwide, though only 11,147 of these are here in the U.S. The affected vehicles have a condition in which a wax coating on the rear suspension toe link jam nuts may allow the nuts to loosen. If a nut sufficiently loosens, the toe link could separate and the rear wheel would be able to turn inboard or outboard. Owners may hear a metallic clanking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle that may warn of a loosening...

Cadillac Unveils CTS-V Black Diamond Edition
You thought the Cadillac CTS-V was bad-ass? You're right, but the CTS-V Black Diamond is bad-asser. Or, as Cadillac puts it, it's a "finely crafted, tailored tuxedo." We like our description better. No, you don't get any performance enhancements in the Black Diamond, but then, you don't really need...

Cadillac is back in road racing with the CTS-V Coupe for the SCCA World Challenge series, and it's on display live in Detroit this morning. It is, in a word, awesome. Or, in the two words of our executive editor Marty Padgett, "Mondrian-sweet." Modern art (and science) livery aside, there's a lot to love about the CTS-V Coupe racer--especially the fact that we'll get to watch it dice wheel-to-wheel against some of the best competition in North America this season.

Driven: 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon
Press launches are odd things, especially when you're dealing with a 556-horsepower super-wagon on a track you've never driven before. Limited time, restricted driving conditions, and unfamiliarity can conspire to put more noise in the signal you're getting from the car than you can filter out. But...

We brought you the first word on the Cadillac Urban Mobility Concept as it broke, and now that we're back in more wirelessly civilized environs, we have our live photos from the unveiling of the ULC for you as well. The first thing that jumps out at you when you see the ULC, especially in person, is the aggressive wedge-shaped design. If you thought the Cadillac CTS Coupe had a high rear end and some thick C-pillars, the ULC will adjust your perspective. Speaking of perspective, from some angles, the car certainly shares a bit of the new Chevrolet Aveo's stance, even with the definitively...

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe vs. 2011 Infiniti G37S Coupe
I'm a car nerd. I’ll confess, I love digging through stats for nuggets about performance. And I lean hard toward thinking a lot can be made of power-to-weight ratios. I’m always in favor of lighter cars, because low weight allows so many other efficiencies: a smaller engine, which leads...
