Update: We just got our hands on a hot and fresh video of the car in testing. Unmarred by any annoying music or other frippery, it's a raw and heady mix of engine and exhaust sounds on top of a visual delight. Enjoy.

Race cars are often exercises in function over form, forgoing the consumer niceties of appearance in the name of performance. The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe race car certainly adds to the performance mix, but manages to come out looking even better than the original.

Fresh from its first test at Sebring, the CTS-V Coupe is preparing for its first racing appearance since the last model went offline in 2007. If you're in the neighborhood of St. Petersburg, Florida (or can get there) next month, you can be on hand for the World Challenge GT series opener and witness the return yourself.

Even the big, funky wing on the back does nothing to spoil the car's lines. From the impressively low ride height to the aggressive aero treatment, this car inspires lustful thoughts of speed and handling. We want one. And the budget to take it racing for a season or three.
