  • 2011 BMW X5

BMW has announced the recall of some 29,800 X5 crossover xDrive35d models, built between September 1,2008 and November 15, 2012. The recall also extends to a stop sale for vehicles in dealer inventory but not yet sold or delivered to customers. At issue is an engine belt idler pulley bolt, which may not have been torqued to the proper value during engine assembly. As a result, the bolt can work loose, creating undesired bending stress from the pulley assembly and potentially shearing off the bolt. Should this occur, a driver would experience a loss of power steering, increasing the effort...

However, BMW shows no signs of slowing the rollout of its new i models and is presenting at this week’s 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show the new i3 Coupe concept car. As its name suggests, the latest concept is essentially a coupe version of the i3 we’ve been shown for the past year. BMW says the coupe body shows that even an...

BMW Turns The M6 Into A Printing Press: Video

In it’s most elemental form, a rotary printing press consists of a cylinder that’s coated with ink, rolling across a sheet of paper. Though neither economical nor practical, it’s entirely possible to turn a car into a printing press, once you engineer a solution to spray the...

  • 2014 BMW 5-Series Touring facelift spy shots

With the 5-Series sedan due for a mid-cycle update soon, it’s only natural its wagon sibling is also set to receive the same updates. These are the latest spy shots of a prototype for the updated wagon, a.k.a. the BMW 5-Series Touring, which, like the updated sedan, will be receiving refreshed styling front and rear, and possibly some extra power under the hood. The current 5-Series Touring is a hot seller overseas but BMW chooses not to offer it in the U.S., thinking local buyers would prefer the more crossover-like 5-Series Gran Turismo instead. That may have been a mistake, but...

  • 2012 Cadillac CTS Touring Edition

Cadillac has a credibility problem. It’s not that the automaker has released bad information, and it’s certainly not due to the impressive products the luxury brand has been cranking out in recent years. Instead, its credibility issue is in regards to pricing. Luxury brands are supposed to be exclusive and unattainable by the masses, which is part of what makes them desirable. Cadillac, while more expensive than other GM brands, still is priced thousands below equivalent sedans from German automakers. As Automotive News (subscription required) points out, a base Cadillac CTS sedan...
