Loud, screeching straight-cut gears. A roaring V-8. Giant grins. This is what it's really like to drive the Batman Tumbler.

That's right, the actual, running, driving Batman Tumbler stopped by Jay Leno's Garage for a thorough examination and a test drive. Though it's not really a jet-powered super-high-tech machine for the Dark Knight's ne'er-do-well-foiling nocturnal activities, it is a real car, and it's really badass.

Curious quirks, aside from the racecar-like gear whine and engine roar: the front suspension is totally independent side-to-side, so it picks up the inside front wheel in hard turns; it has more than a foot of suspension travel for its actual on-set stunt duties; it cost somewhere between $500,000 and $1 million to build; and it weighs about as much as a Chevy Suburban.
