Lamborghini has just introduced its final update for the Gallardo before its successor arrives sometime in the next 12 to 18 months, but the previous models are still well worth the look if you’re in the market for a supercar you can drive everyday.

This latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage gives us a good comparison of two of the most popular Gallardo models, the hardcore Gallardo LP 570-4 and the rear-wheel-drive Gallardo LP 550-2. Both cars in this clip are from the 2012 model year.

While the two cars may look similar and feature similar performance numbers, as we learn in this video the two have a very different feel.

Despite the LP 570-4 being the more powerful, it’s 5.2-liter V-10 engine is rated at 562 horsepower versus the 542 of the LP 550-2, the added traction of its all-wheel drive system means the car feels more civil, especially at the limit. The LP 550-2, by comparison, is quick to lose traction at the rear when the gas pedal is floored.

We won’t spoil the video by telling you which Gallardo Leno prefers, but being the purist that he is it’s not too hard to guess.
