The BBC has announced that it will not end Top Gear, despite pressure to do so from various high-profile road safety campaigners in the UK. They claimed that the 300mph crash that sent Richard Hammond to hospital was a sign that the show focused too much on speed.

Television crews for the BBC have resumed filming, and were today seen taping Jeremy Clarkson test-driving a Lotus around the famous test track, reports The Sun newspaper. Richard Hammond himself was furious that the show was delayed, and Executive produced Andy Wilman had threatened to quit if the show was neutered to satisfy the slow brigade.

The new season of Top Gear was originally scheduled for the 8th, but will now probably be shown late this month or early November.
