Can't wait to drive the new 2015 Ford Mustang? You probably aren't the only one. But if you want to get a taster earlier than most, then get your hands on a next-generation games console and a copy of Need For Speed Rivals, as the popular road racing title will feature the Mustang among its car roster.

The news was revealed on the Ford Mustang Facebook page but a CNN Money video uploaded to Youtube also shows the car in action, as the tech site's reporter takes the controls of the all-new pony car in Need For Speed's virtual world--and crashes it repeatedly, something gamers are likely to do themselves once they're out on the virtual streets.

Importantly though, it looks like a lot of fun--something that's sure to be true of the production Ford Mustang too. Rivals allows you to speed around a hundred miles of virtual streets as either Racer or Cop, completing career missions, doing stunts and unlocking prize cars as you go. The game also lets you transition seamlessly between single-player modes and online play, where you'll be able to pit that Mustang against some of the game's other top cars--such as a host of Ferraris, Aston Martins and Porsches.

Now that Rivals has broken the ice with the new Mustang, it's likely we'll see the car in other new racing titles like Forza Motorsport 5 on the XBox One or Gran Turismo 6 on the PlayStation 3. Cars like the Mustang are must-have additions to any racing game, so we'd be surprised if they didn't appear soon.

Need for Speed Rivals is on sale now for the PlayStation 4 and XBox One games consoles, as well as the XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC platforms. The Mustang is available to download today, December 13.
