There's a 2011 Jaguar XJ press event going on this week in Los Angeles (stay tuned for our take on the XJ shortly) and during one of the press drives, the team from Top Gear USA was caught out and about filming some of the show's upcoming antics along Mulholland Drive. Among the cars in the Top Gear group were a Hyundai Genesis Coupe, a Porsche 911 and a Mustang. Odd company, to say the least.

But we're just glad to see the show is actually--finally--moving forward. Though we're filled with a mix of anticipation and dread over the show's potentially awesome or miserable take on the British original's formula, it's enough that there's a major non-car-specific network looking to bring automotive entertainment to the masses.

Of course some hoonage, some explosions, and lots of burnt rubber won't hurt, and if the black marks on the blacktop are any indication, we'll get at least two out of the three from the first few episodes. With Tanner Foust among the show's hosts, though, burnt rubber is a given.
