Nissan, together with Capital City Highway Corp., has developed a new safety campaign in Japan dubbed the ‘Tokyo Smart Driver’ project, which aims to not only reduce the death toll, but also cut carbon emissions. Organizers hope to achieve these goals by getting drivers to be more attentive behind the wheel and to drive less aggressively.

One of the more interesting campaigns is this new R35 GT-R safety car, which will drive along Tokyo’s streets to promote awareness of the campaign. The car will first hit the road from the end of this week and will stay until the end of the campaign, which falls on the 31st of August.

Ironically, the GT-R is likely to be one of the highest carbon-emitters on Japanese roads today and we can bet most people who get behind of the wheel of the new supercar will be far from being the safest drivers out on the road.
