Left Lane News has put together a rendering of the upcoming Camaro Z28, and it shows a few differences over the current top-dog SS. The most notable difference is the hood, which in this rendering is raised with a bunch of louvers. The lower front fascia also looks a bit different, as it appears to be larger and more aggressive. If the wheels look familiar, that's because the come from the Camaro SSX Concept which was shown at SEMA earlier this year. To reiterate, the Z28 is likely to be powered by the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 from the Cadillac CTS-V. So we think it will make at least 556...

Mexican Drug Wars Spiking Armored Car Sales?Crazy as it sounds, it looks like the heavily-armed (and apparently armored) Mexican drug cartels, bent on cowing or overtaking the government, are actually doing a morsel of good amidst all their evil: boosting armored car and SUV sales. The news, fresh out of Mexico City via Reuters, reveals that...

In a throwback to the muscle-car glory days, two Chevrolet dealers are using GM factory parts and the General Motors ordering system to create custom Camaros that pump out as much as 700 horsepower. Not all of the parts are Camaro parts--some appear to come straight out of the Corvette catalog. Don't sweat the details, though, because the specs look stout. NeSmith Chevrolet in Georgia is offering a NeSmith "Storm" Camaro with 700 horsepower. That's thanks to a supercharged LS9 engine. There's also a Pfadt Racing suspension, Baer brakes, American Racing Headers exhaust, a Hurst shifter, and a...

It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. HRT F1 Engineer Says KERS 'Inefficient,' Nothing But Marketing PloyThe use of hybrid drive systems, or Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) as they're known in Formula 1, has a relatively short history in racing. The long stretch of December holidays is often a slow time in the automotive world as manufacturers take extended breaks and the auto show season lulls post-Los Angeles and pre-Detroit. In Europe, however, they like to keep things moving despite the slowdown--or at least the Dutch at Donkervoort do. Case in point: the D8 GTO. The hotter, more powerful, GT4-ier D8 GTO builds on the existing D8 GT's basis, growing larger, adding a new carbon composite and steel chassis, and snagging its power--possibly--from the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-banger found in the Audi TT-RS and RS3. All we have to...
