It’s no secret that the Infiniti Emerg-E range-extended electric car concept, one of the crowd-pleasers at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, was built on a Lotus Evora platform. Though rivals on paper, Lotus and Infiniti are both working with the UK’s Technology Strategy Board to further the development of eco-friendly technology. Hence, a collaboration like the Emerg-E makes sense for both parties, and Lotus has a history of selling platforms to automakers like Tesla and Hennessey. Renault is said to be seeking a partner for the development of its Alpine sports car, so could...

It was back in 1963 that Ferruccio Lamborghini, the then owner of a tractor company, would venture into the risky world of manufacturing high-end sports cars. That means that next year his company, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., will be 50 years old, and you can bet that there will be plenty of celebrations in store. While many of the planned celebrations are being kept secret, Lamborghini has confirmed it will reveal some of them during the lead up to this weekend’s 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where the automaker will also be showing off its previous Sesto Elemento and...

A Fisker Karma succumbed to fire yesterday in a parking lot in Woodside, California, with the owner allegedly having just left the extended-range electric luxury sedan to pick up some groceries. A video showing fire fighters putting out the flames has since been uploaded to YouTube, revealing that the fire was concentrated around the front of the car on the driver’s side. Fortunately, nobody was injured by the incident though extensive damage to the car itself means it is unlikely to be salvageable. 2013 Audi RS 5 first drive reviewThat recurring dream, the one that scares the whee out of even 50-year-olds, unfurls from my brain and falls right into my lap as soon as I plug in Audi's jaunty little USB jump drive into the black box. Racing and automotive mogul Roger Penske isn’t having a good summer. First, there was the whole A.J.-Almendinger-testing-positive-for-banned-substances incident to deal with, which left Penske’s NASCAR Sprint Cup team down a contracted driver after Almendinger’s release. Now, just a few weeks later, Roger Penske can’t be too happy that his two adult sons, Jay and Mark Penske, were arrested and charged with “breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a misdemeanor,” in what we can only assume was an alcohol-related-incident. As The Detroit...
