Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] is ending the production of its flagship supercar, the GT, after building 4,038 units.

The car was shown as a concept in 2002 and made it to production shortly after due to massive public demand.

The 550-horsepower supercar had a top speed of over 200 mph and could go from 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds.

Ford always said the GT would be in limited production, and the fact that it's been built until now was unexpected. The factory where the GT was produced is to close soon, while the 40-odd people working on the GT will be moved elsewhere.
