For those of you that aren't in the family-car loop, NADAGuides, a well-known vehicle valuation and advice service, has named its best back-to-school vehicles. The only problem is they missed the best one: the Porsche 911 school bus. Instead, the company chose the 2011 Chevy Cruze LS, the 2011 Ford Fiesta Sedan (not even the hatch!), and the 2011 Nissan Cube as the best new cars for back-to-school. We disagree completely. As depicted in the video below (complete with Mother I'd Like to Facebook), the 911 not only has room for two children, it comes in school bus yellow. End of argument...

2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i: First DriveThe venerable BMW inline six-cylinder is, and has long been, one of our favorite engines. But for 2012, it's being replaced, in naturally aspirated guise, with a turbocharged four-cylinder. Blasphemy? Sorry, no. Not at all. We're back for part two of our review of the Skip Barber Racing School two-day High Performance Driving School, and this time we cover the threshold braking exercises and emergency lane changes. These two exercises are perhaps the most relevant to everyday street driving, as almost everyone is likely to need to make a sudden maneuver or emergency stop at some point in their life. Learning how to do it in a safe environment, the right way, from talented and helpful instructors, could make the difference between pulling it off cleanly or spending time in the garage, the hospital, or worse. The Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept made its debut this weekend on the Monterey Peninsula, and we caught up with it at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance to bring you this live photo gallery. In person, it looks every inch the tame race car, and despite Mansory's involvement with the design, it's in surprisingly good taste. This bodes well for the future of special-edition Lotuses, as did the very similar Lotus Evora by Mansory at the Geneva Motor Show.
