Comparison tests are the life blood of the enthusiast magazines--aka "buff books"--and for its February 2011 issue, Motor Trend has picked the 2011 Ford Mustang V-6 as tops over the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the Chevrolet Camaro, and the Dodge Challenger. This isn't exactly a surprise, as the Mustang has been taking home awards left and right, in both V-6 and V-8 forms. So now Ford has one more thing to brag about. The whole piece is linked below. Last August Toyota stood before a crested wave of accelerator and floor-mat related recalls, the matter brought to a head by the death of an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer and three members of his family in a dealer-loaned Lexus ES 350. The crash was caused by incorrectly fitted all-weather floor mats, according to investigating police. Toyota had known about the problem for years, having even issued a similar for floor mats trapping gas pedals recall in 2007. The recall for newer models affected by similar problems--and the then-undiscovered (and possibly still mythical) sticky...

Over the past year, the most searched car on AutoTrader.com has been the Ford Mustang. You'd think that in a down economy, with many consumers shifting their tastes in a more practical direction, that people would be browsing for less-expensive cars and trucks. And yes, Ford's F-150 and Toyota's Camry both make the top five most searched cars for AutoTrader in 2010. But the fact that the Mustang is generating such search traffic on a major consumer shows that the car is still a hit. And for those that were wondering, the Chevrolet Camaro came in third. Jalopnik has a nice piece detailing how Chevrolet decided to mount the AM/FM radio antenna on the upcoming Camaro convertible on the rear decklid spoiler in response to complaints for Camaro enthusiasts about the possible use of a traditional whip antenna. We won't go into deep detail--you can surf over to Jalopnik to read the whole thing--but we will give Chevy a lot of credit for both responding to customer complaints and for engineering a creative solution. Perhaps if the spoiler-mounted antenna works over the long term, we'll see more applications throughout the industry. [Jalopnik]
