BMW recently took the wraps off the new seventh-generation 5-Series with all the latest tech you could want, but will it be enough to fend off the competition?

That competition we speak of is the recently introduced E-Class, which was new earlier this year. It too is filled with tech—and it's very plush.

And that brings us to a recent Twitter poll where we asked you if the new 2017 BMW 5-Series can beat the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The majority of you, 37 percent to be exact, said, "Maybe."

Not exactly confidence inspiring if you're a BMW executive.

As for the rest of you? Well, 18 percent of you said, "Yes, without a doubt" while 29 percent of you said, "Not a chance."

Perhaps the 16 percent of you that said, "Not a clue" are being the most truthful since it's early and we haven't even driven the new 5-Series. Neither have you for that matter.

Mercedes-Benz has launched hit after hit the past few years with plus interior, terrific powertrains, and great tech, but the new 5-Series takes after the latest 7-Series, which isn't a bad thing.

We'll have to wait and see how the new 5-Series is as we near the launch next spring in 2017. Until then, it's pretty much anyone's guess, and thanks for yours.
