The 2016 Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] Mustang Shelby GT350, especially in GT350R track tune, is probably the greatest performing Mustang of all time. It's built to kick ass at the track, sound mean on the street, and erase any notion of the straight-line only solid rear axle performance of some of its predecessors. The 5.2-liter V-8 engine under the hood is good for 529 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and that's going to be more than enough for most people. Hennessey has gotten its Texas mitts on a 2016 GT350, and you know those folks don't deal with "enough for most people."

The HPE crew have just announced that there will be a HPE800 upgrade available for the car. Thanks to a 2.1-liter supercharger, the power output rises to 808 hp and 657 lb-ft of torque. Of course, there's more than just a supercharger being called into action here. Forged pistons and connecting rods are used along with upgraded fuel injectors, an upgraded fuel pump system, and modified intake bits.

You also get the standard Hennessey exterior badges, a serial number dash and engine plaque, and, most importantly, a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty. Hennessey claims that the HPE800 kit turns the Shelby GT350 into a car capable of running from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. It's also said to be capable of running down a quarter mile in 10.8 seconds and crossing the 1,320-foot mark at 133 mph.

Seeing as this is HPE we're dealing with here, we don't expect them to stop at 800 horsepower. If we were gambling, we'd put our money down on a HPE1000 kit in the not-to-distant future.
