In what seems to be an effort to confuse customers, Infiniti is changing the name of its Q30 hatchback before it even hits the market.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, though, because it indicates that the Q30 hatchback and QX30 "crossover" are essentially the same vehicle.

The lineup starts with the QX30, which is a front-wheel-drive model that will, oddly, be sold as the Q30 in markets outside the United States. The next model is the QX30S. This sporty version comes with a lowered stance, aggressive front and rear fascias, cross-drilled front brake rotors, and 19-inch wheels and performance tires. Like the Q30, this model will be sold in other markets as the Q30S.

2017 Infiniti QX30
The final model is the QX30 AWD. This is the model formerly represented by the QX30 moniker. It features a raised ride height, all-wheel drive, and off-road-inspired front and rear valence panels.

All of these models are related to the Mercedes-Benz GLA, which is classified as a crossover but feels an awful lot like a hatchback version of the CLA sedan. They will all feature a Mercedes-sourced 208-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The QX30 lineup will hit Infiniti dealers in the U.S. and Canada in the middle of 2016.
