Formula 1 is in the U.S. for the first time in five years this weekend, and it's already leading to the product tie-ins. No, we're not complaining.

In this video you see the first footage of the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio, due to be unveiled at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show in just under two weeks.

Details are still being closely held, but in addition to looking pretty good with Ferrari's F1 racing drivers behind the wheel, the 500 Abarth Cabrio should be precisely what you'd expect: a 500 Abarth with the retractable cloth top of the 500C.

That means a 160-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, Abarth-tuned suspension, unique wheels, an aggressive exhaust, and some Abarth-specific appearance touches inside and out. To see what it's like to drive a modern 500 Abarth, check out our first drive review of the 2012 hardtop here.

It should also translate to a very friendly starting price for a performance mini-hatch. The standard hardtop Abarth starts at $22,000, and the 500C adds a premium of $4,000 over the standard 500, so look for the 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio to clock in around $26,000.

We'll have all of the details and live photos for you fresh from the show floor, so stay up to date with all of our show coverage at our dedicated LA Auto Show page.
