2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series revealed early?

The car you see above purports to be the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, revealed at a Mercedes-Benz drive event in Le Castellet, France.

It certainly looks the part of the Black Series badge, with wider fenders, vents aplenty, new (very lightweight-looking) wheels. Power from the 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V-8 is up 30 horsepower from the regular C63 AMG, rating 487 horsepower with the base package and 517 horsepower with the Performance Package. In the standard C63, 0-60 mph takes 4.3 seconds with the 487-horsepower Performance Package option, so we expect the Black Series to start around there, perhaps dipping down to the 4.1-second range with the upgraded power option.

Of course, there's more than meets the eye and the ear to any Black Series, including a retuned suspension, wider wheels and tires, a wider track, vented hood, and unique interior touches.

We'll have the full data on the C63 AMG Black Series as soon as it's available, but until then, start saving those pennies. You don't need to be in a rush, however, as Speedfans reports the car won't be a limited edition--they will sell as many as they can.
