Remember last week when we spotted Jennifer "Coco" Lopez sliding her superstar culo into the passenger's seat of an Audi Q7? At the time we commented on the swarm of high-powered celebs who've recently been spotted in Audi rides and commended Audi on its covert marketing tactics. Of course, we were joking: it would take a lot of finagling and begging and pleading to get all those stars seen in all those cars -- not to mention getting them all shot by the paparazzi.
But perhaps we underestimated the Germans. (It wouldn't be the first time.)
One of the first big guns we spied rolling in an Audi was singer/actor/fashion designer Justin Timberlake. It was a little weird, seeing someone as young and hip as JT in a sedate Audi A5, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's just mature for his age.
But now, Audi has named JT its new brand ambassador, and honestly, we don't know what to think. Could it be true? Could Audi have waged a successful celeb marketing campaign on the DL? Or was Timberlake pushing hard to get the gig all along? Or is this just a supernaturally weird series of coincidences on par with, say, the last five minutes of Contact? We're totally confused. (Just like when we saw Contact.)
We have GOT to get our jaded groove back.
On a related note: as brand ambassador, does JT get access to the UN? Could you imagine the parties? Security Council will be off the chiz-ain!

Justin Timberlake gets leading role in Audi A1 Internet campaign

Ingolstadt, December 16, 2009 – Justin Timberlake will act as an Audi brand ambassador starting in 2010. The entertainer will play the leading role in an exceptional Audi A1 Internet campaign to be launched in the spring of 2010.

In the spring of 2010, Audi will launch an extraordinary Internet campaign for the market introduction of the new A1.
