In its debut season, the McLaren 12C GT3 competed in 98 separate race events, taking home 19 victories and an additional 19 podium finishes. While most companies would be content with a handful of podiums in the first season of a new race car, that’s simply not the McLaren way.

In 2012, thirteen teams campaigned the 12C GT3, which was only available to teams based in Europe. That changes for 2013, as McLaren will now make the car available to teams, collectors and track-day enthusiasts on a global basis.

While all teams from the 2012 season will run the 12C GT3 in 2013, a host of new squads will campaign the car this season as well. Among the teams receiving new cars is Sebastian Loeb Racing, as the nine-time World Rally Champion will now turn his attention to dominating the FIA GT3 series with co-driver Alvaro Parente.

Based on the lessons learned in 2012, the latest 12C GT3 models will get a revised aero package (which will aid both handling and tire wear), an upgraded ECU with revised electrical connections and alternative suspension package.

Improved cooling should ensure optimum performance across a broader range of conditions than last year as well, critical if the 12C GT3 is to compete (and win) on a global basis.

The new McLaren 12C GT3 is eligible for all series adhering to FIA GT3 rules, and the car is priced from 325,000 pounds ($345,742).
