As we reported earlier, Saab is working on a new telematics and infotainment system for its future cars called Saab IQon. The new system, previewed this week in Saab’s striking PhoeniX concept, is essentially a new car communications platform based on Google’s Android operating system, and it’s destined to turn your next Saab car into one big smartphone. By switching on the ignition, owners will automatically connect their cars to the Internet. An 8-inch color touchscreen provides access to services, including audio and entertainment streaming, online navigation and on-board...

Video: The Jaguar XKR-S In ActionThe Jaguar XKR-S is one sexy beast. All of the refinement of the standard XK, with the sport and race additions of the R and, now, S, appendages. Fresh from its debut in Geneva, the XKR-S struts its stuff in the video below. No, it's not the fastest, best value, most outrageous, or even the most...

Human Car Wrecks: Charlie Sheen (Duh!)Eddie Griffin totals an Enzo. La Lohan does time for two DUIs. Paris Hilton bedazzles her pink Bentley, which is not a euphemism. It's so awful, you have to watch. None of 'em quite lives up to the spontaneous combustion currently en fuego in the form of Carlos Irwin Estevez, a.k.a. Charlie Sheen...

The past few days have brought a double-whammy of Oscar glitz and pre-Geneva Motor Show hype. Together, they created a perfect storm of celeb car stories. (Though technically, neither had anything to do with Prince Harry's run-in -- um, run-over -- of a papparazzo Saturday night, but we'll let that slide.) Here are a few of the stories that we've been tracking: • In case anyone's keeping score, we picked three out of four Oscar night losers! True, it's a little easier picking losers than winners, and in one of our asides, we projected that Helena Bonham Carter would walk off with Best...

Watch: Barnes & Noble Nook Hacked, Becomes In-Dash Stereo & MoreThere are lots of gizmos on the market -- gizmos designed to meet the needs of nearly every consumer. And yet, a handful of consumers are never satisfied. They take matters into their own hands, poking, prodding, and modding until they get what they want, just as they've done for millennia. Now...

Report: Ferrari 458 Italia With Eco-Friendly HELE System Set For Geneva DebutIt’s safe to assume that most owners of the Ferrari 458 Italia would have little concern as to how much emissions their cars produce but nevertheless Ferrari is expected to debut a ‘greener’ version of its V-8 supercar during tomorrow’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The new 458...

Video: Chevrolet Camaro Spotted With Ridiculous 30-Inch WheelsCall it a Hi-Riser, or Donk, or Bubble, but whatever it is it looks down right stupid. Video: One Small Reason The Lexus LFA Costs Twice As Much As It ShouldWe're still bewildered by the Lexus LFA. Sure, it's fast, it's pretty good-looking, and it has a banshee of a V-10 under the hood. But it's priced at about 1.5-2 times the price of cars that look just as good (or better), are just as quick (or faster) and are far more readily available. This video...

Hollywood is so fickle. One minute, Neve Campbell is all the rage, and the next thing you know, she's doing guest spots on Medium. (Yes, apparently it's still on.) The same rules apply to cars. Not so long ago, Priuses (or Prii) were all the rage; now, they're yesterday's news, upstaged by the hotshot newcomer, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. It's not that we don't see the Prius on California streets, but driving one is a little like wearing last-year's jeans, or confiding to friends that you don't recycle. The Volt is everything Hollywood wants to be right now: shiny, new, slightly unknown, and...

In-wheel electric motors, a full-hybrid drivetrain, and a Porsche logo: it sounds like a modern car, but it's 111 years old. It's the Porsche Semper Vivus, and it has been recreated in time for the Geneva Motor Show. Porsche says it was the first fully-functional full-hybrid car in the world, created and built by Ferdinand Porsche in 1900. Through a meticulous process, Porsche's present-day engineers have made as near an exact recreation of the car as possible. It will be housed in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart after the show. The teaser video below gives you an idea of what to expect. The...

Video: Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed Seeks 'Authenticity And Realism'Racing video games are often a bit less than realistic. Why? Because racing is hard, and people play games for fun.
