Jeremy Clarkson is many things: tall, obstinate, outrageous, British, and even, occasionally, right. But if the message in the latest Forza Motorsport 4 trailer he voices is true, he is also the harbinger of the death of driving for fun. The video, showing an Aston Martin DB9 being used in a futile attempt to escape the congestion of a modern city commute, is depressing enough. But Clarkson's (and presumably Forza's) call to retreat from the real world into a video game as the last safe harbor for driving fun is, to us, utterly crushing. If all we're left with is cunningly rendered...

Drag Racer Snaps Seat On Launch, Doesn't Wreck: VideoDrag racing is a hard thing to do on a budget; it's a sport measured in cubic dollars. But many people manage to bend that immutable rule by doing a lot of work themselves. Sometimes that goes wrong. In this case, it could have gone horribly wrong, but, as this video dug up by Autoblog shows...

Ferrari's idea of what makes a supercar has changed dramatically over the years, with the two cars in this video at the polar extremes: the raw, race-ready F40 and the refined, grand-touring 599 GTB. Despite Ferrari calling this a "fictional" race, it looks to have very much occurred in real life--and it is excellent. From the sounds to the sights, especially the in-cockpit shots of the F40's gated, long-throw shifter in action, it's a feast for any fan of the Rosso Corsa.

In the world of high-end trackday cars, there are many choices and few wrong answers. One of the best answers is likely the Riley MkXXV, which is powered by the bored and stroked 5.8-liter S85 V-10 (yes, the one from the last-gen M-5) shown in the dyno video below. The sound alone is worth the 1:42 run time, but if you need more convincing, check out the glowing purple exhaust headers, the dyno chart, and then consider that it turns out 720 horsepower at 8,300 rpm and 497 pound-feet of torque at 6,900 rpm. Yeah, I want one.
