A year ago, when Acura first announced that its RL flagship sedan was to be replaced by a new model called the RLX, the Japanese automaker rolled out a thinly-veiled concept version of the new RLX that was powered by an advanced hybrid system similar to the drivetrain destined for the new NSX sports car. Called Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, or Sport Hybrid SH-AWD for short, the new hybrid drivetrain was promised to be offered in the RLX first, and then in the NSX. Acura has now revealed its RLX fitted with Sport Hybrid SH-AWD at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. DON'T MISS...

It looks roughly like a black Honda CR-Z with a mesh grille--at least until you get up close. Then you notice that the doors seem much shallower, and that it has strange little glass panels in the roof. But what you're looking at is no ordinary CR-Z hybrid two-seater. Instead, it's a one-of-a-kind...

Time travel is, perhaps unexpectedly, enlightening. Reading of the conditions and actors of the past provides only a dusty image, rendered in grayscale; dunking oneself fully in the scene teaches lessons that cannot otherwise be learned. Thus I recount for you my recent sojourn to the early 21st Century. The cultures of that time, at least throughout most of the Northern Hemisphere, were widely divergent in ways a modern reader might not expect: language, dress, and even laws varied from place to place enough to make life unpredictable at best, and often deadly. If a unifying theme could be...

One of the standouts of last weekend’s 2013 Shanghai Auto Show was a stunning supercar concept from Italian-owned but Shanghai-based design firm Icona. The concept carried the Vulcano name, which is Italian for “volcano,” and its lines were penned by French designer Samuel Chuffart, a former employee of illustrious design firm Bertone as well as automakers Jaguar Land Rover and Nissan. Construction of the concept, meanwhile, was handled by Italian firm Cecomp and its powertrains (yes, there are two separate designs) developed by former Scuderia Ferrari engineer Claudio...
