In this footage of Tommy Milner testing the Corvette Racing C6.R at Mid-Ohio ahead of the last round of the American Le Mans Series, we get an unusual and very cool chance to see the track from the driver's perspective. Unlike your typical on-board shot, the helmet-mounted camera here better conveys the g-forces, bumps, and raw speed of a serious run at a race track. It doesn't hurt that there's no soundtrack but the Corvette's beefy V-8. [Tommy Milner via Corvette Blogger]

Corvette Racing's excellent ongoing series, Track To Street, now in its second season, has given us a look inside the mind and spirit of a professional racing team the way few others get to see. This time, we see what it's like to tackle one of the world's premiere street circuits at Long Beach. Narrow, lined with concrete, and punishing mistakes with broken cars or worse, high-speed and vicious in its bends, the street circuit is a test of any car and driver and the team that supports them. Starting in last doesn't help things, but that's what one of Corvette Racing's drivers did, with the...

Though BMW's performance in winning this year's ALMS GT championship was based more on consistency than outright dominance, the team has proved a central tenet of endurance racing: to finish first, one must first finish. Today the team announced its intent to come back for a third season of ALMS GT racing, bringing with it a new name: BMW Team RLR. Previously called the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team, the team is building a new pair of M3-based race cars, and picks up Dirk Werner to replace Tommy Milner. Werner will drive alongside Bill Auberlen, Dirk Mueller, and Joey Hand. As for the name...
