The Need For Speed franchise is heading to the big screen, and to help take it there will be a slew of the latest supercar models, including the new McLaren P1.

A burnt orange example of the McLaren, similar to the original prototype that debuted at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, was recently spotted on the set of the upcoming film adaption of the popular racing simulator, which is scheduled for a premiere in February, 2014.

The P1 can be seen in the photo above, sourced from the Mendocino County Film Office and first picked up by Carscoops. Filming of the movie is taking place in several locations, including in Mendocino, California.

It’s almost certain that this will be the P1’s first film appearance.

In addition to the McLaren P1, other exotics seen in the photos above include a Koenigsegg, most likely the latest Agera R, a Bugatti Veyron and even a GTA Spano from Spanish firm Spania GTA. We can also see some regular cars like a Ford Mustang and Porsche Cayenne.

The new Need For Speed movie is being fast-tracked at DreamWorks and is being directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor). Actors will include Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Michael Keaton (Batman) and Dakota Johnson (Ben and Kate).

Its creators hope that movie will be popular enough to spawn a series of sequels, just like the similarly-themed Fast and the Furious franchise, which spawns its own sixth sequel next month. Let's hope Ferrari's LaFerrari is included in the next one.
