General Motors’ Australian subsidiary Holden called on its Facebook fans to come up with a new advertising slogan for its latest Commodore ‘Thunder’ Ute.

And the fans delivered, coming up with the slogan “No Backseat Drivers.”

The more than 300,000 fans on Holden’s Facebook page were even given the chance to pick the winning slogan from three finalists, providing a fun and somewhat creative means of generating conversation and sparking interest on the page.

And the slogan, which is quite fitting considering the Commodore Ute has only two seats, has since been incorporated into a television commercial that aired in Australia recently.

The Thunder series Commodore Ute is a special edition of the popular workhorse that is available with either a 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine or 360-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8. All Thunder models also come with custom 19-inch alloys in a charcoal finish, a navigation system, leather bucket seats and special badging.

Note, Chrysler is doing something similar back in the U.S. with its 300S. The automaker has teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures for the release of the upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises with a contest to see who can create the best commercial for the 2012 Chrysler 300S--with an "Imported from Gotham City" theme.

The winning spot will be determined by a number of judging criteria, including public vote, originality, creativity, memorability and brand effectiveness. Warner Bros. and Chrysler will debut the winning commercial on national television the week of the film’s release.
