A Porsche Instant Intelligence mobile tag.

Are you the type of car buyer who wants to know every last detail about a particular model before you make a buying decision? Do you spend hours with your face pressed against a car dealer’s window, memorizing every styling detail of the latest models on the showroom floor? If so, Porsche has something to feed your relentless need for detailed information.

Announced today, Instant Intelligence is a program that allows customers to obtain detailed specifications on Porsche vehicles without the aid (or interference) of a sales representative.  Shoppers need only scan the mobile tag displayed in a car’s window with their smartphone, and a vehicle-specific micro website is opened with the browser of your mobile device. Customers can get specific information on the Porsche model, including videos, press reviews and engine sounds.  Those interested in purchase can even submit their contact information for follow up by a sales representative.

The pilot program for Porsche Instant Intelligence kicked off in June with 11 dealers. Based on the pilot’s success, the program is now being expanded to include some 184 additional outlets.

Porsche’s COO, Michael Bartsch, summed up the program’s success by saying, “Porsche customers enjoy both performance and technology and are using their mobile devices to help make vehicle purchasing decisions. The dealers that have begun using mobile tags in their showrooms have noted positive feedback from their sales team as well as greater customer engagement and enthusiasm.”

Porsche’s website now has mobile-device specific tools that help customers find local dealers or service centers, and even allow users to check inventory at dealers nationwide. The mobile-optimized site will give details on current specials or promotions, and can give driving directions to the nearest Porsche retailer.
