General Motors' use of the supercharged, 6.2-liter LSA V-8 engine is familiar by now, despite only being used in a trio of Cadillacs, but as it's being used in the 2012 Camaro ZL1, it sounds like a completely different beast.

The exhaust note of the Cadillac CTS-V, in its many incarnations, is excellent; not too loud, not too quiet, rumbly, throaty, and confident. The ZL1, on the other hand, sounds mean. Really mean. The crackling and popping on deceleration is particularly pronounced. This clip is longer and more varied than what we've heard and seen before.

Check it out to see what we mean.
