Proteus Cars, a company made famous by its replicas of classic Jaguars, has been acquired by one of its rivals, Enduro Cars. Under the deal, the sale of any fully-built, factory-warranted cars will carry the Proteus name, while the sale of any separate mechanical components will fall under the Enduro label.
Proteus has been building its replicas for more than 21 years with its latest model being the all-aluminum C-Type replica launched just last year. The popular model has since gone on to sell in the UK, US, Belgium, Germany and Portugal.
The company is now expected to unveil its own unique Coupe version of the C-Type that it will display as a half scale model at the Race Retro historic auto show being held in Coventry at the end of the month. Proteus has built coupe versions of most f the classic Jags, including the XK 120, 140, 150, and E-Type. Production of the latest C-Type Coupe will now depend on public reaction of the display model at the upcoming show.
