As Veyron production winds down, Bugatti has released special "Legend" editions of this superlative supercar to keep it in the spotlight. Each car pays tribute to a significant part of Bugatti's history, but examples of all six models have never been in one place. Until now, that is.
Bugatti chose the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering satellite event as the place to assemble the complete set of Veyron Legends for the first time. This comes just after the debut of the final Legend model, which honors founder and namesake Ettore Bugatti.
Each Legend is based on the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, which sports a 1,183 horsepower, quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 that can launch it to 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds. It will also do 254 mph, with the top down.
Only three copies of each Legend will be built, and all 18 cars have already been spoken for despite price tags in the $3 million range. The last sales were made even before the final Legend Ettore Bugatti model was revealed, the carmaker says.
