Infiniti has finally confirmed that the sultry IPL G Convertible Concept that we saw late last year will be going into production in time for a sales launch in the spring of next year.

IPL, short for Infiniti Performance Line, is the upmarket Nissan division’s new performance branding, similar to Audi’s S range but not an independently run tuner like BMW M, Mercedes-Benz AMG or Audi quattro.

The latest announcement about the IPL G Convertible was made this past weekend at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the same event where last year Infiniti first unveiled its IPL G Coupe.

Like the coupe, the new Infiniti IPL G Convertible will feature a Nismo-derived 338 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 engine, a seven-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission, larger brakes, a quicker steering ratio, 19-inch wheels, unique interior and exterior trim, and a high-spec, feature-packed interior.

The three-piece retractable roof will remain, but inside, the IPL G Convertible gets a unique red leather-appointed interior as an option.

Look out for the debut of the production 2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
