The Porsche Carrera GT wasn't a world-smasher in its time, but it was a race-bred supercar with brutal 5.7-liter V-10 engine derived from a unit designed secretly for Formula 1. The new Porsche 918 Spyder Concept carries on the Carrera GT's lineage, but in an entirely new direction.

Powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 and a 218-horsepower hybrid drive system, the 918 Spyder is a 21st-century supercar that aims to deliver the best of green performance. Porsche claims a 3.2-second 0-62 mph time, 198-mph top speed and a sub 7 minute, 30 second Nordschleife lap time--quicker than the Carrera GT.

The 918 Spyder can even drive on electric power alone for up to 16 miles, and features four different performance modes ranging from green to mean. For the full details, check out our article here.
