Official dignitaries from the US embassy based in London have racked up over 1 million pounds in road tolls but are refusing to pay them. Most of the bill came from the UK capital’s congestion charge that motorists have to pay for travelling through the city centre. According to London officials, the charge is a toll that diplomats have to pay like everyone else. However, Washington claims it’s a tax and that their guys are exempt.

The US is not alone in their refusal to pay the charge that has been going on for more than a year now. Last year, London's outspoken Mayor Ken Livingstone (pictured) labelled the US ambassador Robert Tuttle a "chiselling little crook" for refusing to pay and now several other factions have joined in and are snubbing the bill. Driving across the area of central London costs a ridiculous 8 pounds, which if you don’t pay by midnight the next day gets increased to 150 pounds. That's not just a tax, it's a jack.
