Vauxhall has decided to kill off the Vectra nameplate for its next mid-sized family car to be released in 2008. GM Europe head-honcho Carl-Peter Forster leaked deals of the plan to BusinessCar magazine in a recent interview and claimed the main reasons for the move were to reflect the “radical departure” the new model would have from the current Vectra. In Europe, the Vectra is known for being cheap and cheerful, clearly not something GM wants to promote with its new model. The new model may be called the Insignia, after the luxury concept car shown by Vauxhall in 2003. In unclear...

That’s about as detailed as Porsche’s chief executive is willing to get about their plans to take over VW. Like a complex game of chess, Porsche is making all the right moves as a lead-up to takeover VW including plans to issue share to raise capital. Porsche is looking at offering 8.75 million new shares, which would give it a large enough war chest to buy the world’s fourth largest carmaker. Here's one for the "what not to do" files. Turns out that a speeder posted a video on YouTube of his escapades, namely taking his car up to 150mph on public roads where the limits only reach about 62mph. Police in Norway found the video and managed to track him down following an electronic trail he left online, reports Reuters. He was then slapped with a $1300 fine. Ouch. There are a number of videos on YouTube of people speeding on the roads. One such video is a BMW M6 apparently doing 340km/h on a publich highway in Greece. You can watch it after the jump.
