Volkswagen has unveiled its new performance packages for its Golf, Touran, Passat and Touareg models. Similar to Audi’s S line range of performance accessories, VW’s R line includes several different exterior and interior accessories for owners who want to customize their cars. Until now, the “R” label was reserved for high-performance cars such as the Golf R32 or the new Passat R36. Thanks to the new R line, the rest of the VW range can get that sporty look and feel.

There are three levels of R line packages, with the first being the “Trendline,” followed by the “Plus” range, and finally the “Exterior” R line package. Accessories include new wheels ranging from 17in to 18in, sports steering wheels, R-style pedals and new interior trim with different seats. Exterior options include blacked out grilles, anthracite powder-coated wheels, and several different aero parts. Developed under Volkswagen Individual, the first shipments will be coming out of Germany midway through next year.

VW has launched its new 300hp Passat R36 alongside the R line debut at the Essen Motor Show. The “R36” that premiered in Essen represents the most powerful Passat ever. The car comes with a direct shift gearbox, 4MOTION AWD and can reach 100km/h from rest in 5.6 seconds.
