This 1987 BMW E30, fully prepped and boosted, is fierce little machine. The restrained fury with which it attacks Pikes Peak is even fiercer.

Putting about 480 horsepower to the rear wheels and weighing in at just 2,340 pounds, Tim Hardy’s turbo E30 made the climb in just 10:44.650. The time was good enough for fifth place in TA1 and 25th place overall.

While it’s not the fastest run up the mountain, the footage is some of the best we’ve seen, conveying the raw peril, serious cojones, and massive skill involved in making it to the top of the mountain.

Hat tip to Chris E.!
