What does the 2015 Audi A3 have to do with a dog? They both star in Audi’s new ad for the Super Bowl taking place next week. We’re not talking any old dog, though. The dog featuring in Audi’s ad is a Doberhuahua, a mixture of a Doberman and a Chihuahua.

The Doberhuahua is the result of a couple wanting two different dogs and compromising on one dog with the combined features of the other two. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Audi wants to portray to buyers of its new A3 that they won’t have to compromise on anything.

While the ad portrays the Doberhuahua as a little scary, there's nothing overly ferocious about the A3's base 1.8-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine--which produces 170 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque--or the optional 2.0-liter version with 220 hp and 258 lb-ft. Both engines comes with a six-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system is standard.

The base price of $30,795 (including destination), isn't too scary either. That puts the A3 in the ring with the similarly-sized Mercedes-Benz CLA250, which was the star of its own Super Bowl commercial last year.

On television screens, Audi will compete with Volkswagen and Jaguar, which has drafted its own team of "British Villains" to ensure commercial domination. Oh, and apparently some people will be playing a game of football while all this is going on.

The Big Game kicks off February 2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Be glad you won't have to endure the likely cold temperatures, or the post-game traffic.
