BMW released specifications for its new i8 plug-in hybrid sports car, and it's going to be impressive. With an estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, and the ability to get up to 95 mpg in the European cycle, the i8 will be one fuel-efficient sports car. BMW will reveal the i8 soon as it makes its formal debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Crash test data will only take you so far, as a real-life car crash is different than a simulated crash. Recently a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray driven by a GM employee was T-boned by a Lincoln Town Car in only the third real-world crash of the new Corvette. GM is using this as an opportunity to learn more about the crash performance of the latest Chevrolet sports car.

MINI announced it will unveil the new 2014 Cooper on November 18 to celebrate the 107th birthday of Sir Alex Issigonis, the designer of the original Mini. The car will make its formal auto show debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
